The Andalusia Fire Department is located at 100 Church Street. By means of three pumpers and one 85 ft. aerial platform, this department operates as a full-time fire department. It also has a Brush Truck which holds 400 gallons of water and 12 gallons of foam to be used for grass fires, vehicle accidents, etc.
Under the direction for Fire Chief Russell McGlamory, Andalusia's Fire Department employees 18 full-time Firefighters and 1 Fire Inspector. All Firefights work on a scheduled shift consisting of 24 hours on and 48 hours off. The Fire Chief works a normal business hour schedule, Monday thru Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. The Fire Inspector also works Monday thru Friday, 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
At this time, the City of Andalusia has an I.S.O. rating of Class 5.
Burn permits may be obtained during daytime hours at the Andalusia Fire Department. Persons seeking a burn permit can come by the station to fill out a request form on the day of the burn. Once the form is filled out, future requests may be made by telephone.
Certain materials, such as roofing materials, tires, leaves or pine straw, are not allowed to be burned. A permit will not be issued to burn these materials. Also, burn permits will only be issued when weather permits. Excessive wind, dry weather, location for burning, and/or other circumstances may affect whether a burn permit will be issued or not.

Tours and Programs
The Andalusia Fire Department is open for walk-in visits anytime. We especially open our doors each year in October during Fire Prevention Week. This is a great time to bring your children by for a tour. We also provide great educational tips. Please call to set up a time for a tour.
We also conduct a fire extinguisher class or a fire safety talk for any group or business. These are especially useful for a scheduled safety meeting.
Another program that we provide is called "The Safety House". Any non-political group can schedule the safety House for a special event. This structure actually simulates a house fire and the effects of smoke. This is a great way to teach children on how to exit a house that is burning or on fire.
The Andalusia Fire Department is also involved in raising funds for MDA, Muscular Dystrophy Association. You may see us around town a couple of times a year seeking donations for this fine organization.
